Thank you all for so generously donating to charity: water through the Twenty Project last year. Together, we raised $2,694. I just received an e-mail saying that some of the money has helped go to drilling wells in Ethiopia. Amazing! Can’t wait to see where else the money will go.

I have an open campaign on mycharity:water if anyone wants to donate. I made it so that KAN Apparel, a Twenty Project contributor, could donate more funds to the project that were raised from selling “Kill Them with Kindness” T-shirts.

After fundraising for charity: water throughout all of 2011, the Twenty Project is over. However, my work with charity: water is far from over; actually, I’ve already started another campaign because a few people want to donate late. After a year of educating myself about the water crisis and trying to help other people understand it, I can’t simply turn away from it. Clean and safe water is a basic need that everybody deserves.

My ultimate goal is to raise $5,000 for charity: water. I don’t care how long it takes. I’ve raised $2,544 of it so far, thanks to musicians, artists, an actor, friends, family and people I’ve never met. Incredible!

A lot of this project didn’t go quite as planned. I was supposed to get 20 artists and musicians to contribute, but that didn’t happen. People got busy. People who promised to help out didn’t. It’s okay; at the end of the day, everyone who did support Twenty helped 127 people get clean and safe water.

Thank you thank you thank you to everyone who supported Twenty in any way. I’ll still post here from time to time. Feel free to pop by with any questions or comments. After a year of fundraising for charity: water, my Twenty Project is ending on December 31st. I’ve been rallying last-minute donations to bring the total raised to more than $2,500. I hit $2,502 a few days ago, and there’s still more coming from a wonderful music festival full of local bands put on by Walkingstick Presents here in Arizona. If you’ve been planning on donating, now is the time! Any last bit of support would be amazing, as always :)

Around this time last year, I landed in New York City for the first time. After dashing from the plane to the subway and then into a cab, I arrived at the charity: ball just after it started. (So lucky my flight wasn’t delayed, or else I would’ve missed it!) I really wish I could’ve attended again this year. charity: water raised $2.5 MILLION dollars from more than 2,200 guests in one night, more than doubling last year’s amount of $1 million. Wow! I’m so happy for their success.

Though my Twenty Project is soon coming to a close, you bet I’ll be fundraising for charity: water in the future or perhaps even getting more involved with an internship. I love their mission. Every person on this planet deserves clean and safe water. It’s such a basic need. I hope everyone reading this realizes what a big impact they can make on somebody’s life just by donating to charity: water.

If you haven’t yet donated, please consider throwing even a couple bucks to my campaign. It’s open until the end of December. No donation is too small.

We hit our goal!

Late Sunday night, we hit our $1.2 million goal for September Campaign. That means we’ve now raised enough money to purchase an FS 250 drilling rig for our partner in northern Ethiopia. We’ll ship the rig from Italy to Ethiopia immediately and it will get to work digging wells in early 2012!

And…your impact will be doubled.

Hitting our $1.2 million goal also means that one of our most dedicated supporters will match it with an additional $1.2 million — providing a second drilling rig!

Together, these two drilling rigs will dig 160 new wells a year that can give 80,000 people access to clean drinking water!

Do it :) You will NOT regret asking people to give others clean and safe water instead of presents for yourself. Your birthday comes every year, so why not celebrate it for a good cause this year?

Mintamir, 18 years old, is one of them. Like a lot of the farm kids from my hometown in rural Michigan, she’s been handling chores since she was old enough to walk. When these chores were taken care of, only then would she get to school.

But unlike most farm kids in the U.S., of all her responsibilities, the most time-consuming and physically difficult was collecting water. She’d spend much of her morning walking to an open pond, then hauling her Jerry can home to her house. Her family would make the most of just a pair of these five-gallon containers of water each day. That meant only enough water to bathe (at most) once a week and wash clothes every two weeks.

“We didn’t even wash our faces or care for our personal hygiene,” she tells me. “We were ashamed of our body odor. But also, we’d get sick and then we didn’t focus on school. We’d be tired and sleepy.”

How did I forget to mention? I got a birthday call yesterday...

How did I forget to mention?

I got a birthday call yesterday from charity: water. How nice! :) My campaign is open until the end of the year, so you have plenty of time to donate if you want to.

charity: water is great at saying ‘thanks.’ For their fifth birthday, they made 250 thank you videos for different fundraisers. It’s great to know that they’re not only concerned with the people they’re helping, but also with the people helping them.

Today is the day! I’ve had a wonderful birthday, and I’m so happy to be celebrating it by asking for donations to charity: water instead of presents. I have raised $265 from my birthday campaign so far from friends, family and strangers, and $2,222 for charity: water overall. My birthday campaign will be open until the end of the year, so there’s plenty of time to donate if you’re planning to :)

And I’m still hoping to do more things with artists & musicians until the end of the year! Thanks for all the support.

Thanks, you are too kind! As someone else pointed out in a reblog, everyone probably has at least $1 to donate. Those dollars add up, so even if you think it’s not worth it to donate a small amount, IT IS! :)

Today it begins: the last leg of the Twenty Project. With your support, I’ve raised nearly $2,000 for charity: water. I’m proud of that, but there’s still a lot to do before the end of the year. There’s still lot of people to help. I hope to have your continued support and donations :)
